University Research Corridor media tour July 21
The presidents of Michigan State University, the University of Michigan and Wayne State University will release a report on promising prospects for the state’s economic future as part of a University Research Corridor Media Tour on July 21.
The one-day three-campus tour for journalists also includes:
? News conference and release of report: A news conference with U-M President Mary Sue Coleman, MSU President Lou Anna Simon and Wayne State President Jay Noren as well as Patrick Anderson, principal of the Anderson Economic Group.
? First interview opportunity and other news: The first large-scale media tour of U-M’s North Campus Research Complex (NCRC) includes the first media interview opportunities with David Canter, who becomes executive director of the 174-acre research complex July 19. He once led the complex when it was a major R&D center for Pfizer. Other newsmakers will be available on the bus and along the tour route.
? Rare video and photo opportunities: The tour includes access to facilities and work seldom seen by the public, creating great video and photo story opportunities showing how Michigan is being transformed by a knowledge-based economy.
Highlights: Journalists who register for the tour will meet at Wayne State University at 7:45 a.m. July 21 and return to their cars by 4:45 p.m. A bus, equipped with wireless Internet access to accommodate filing needs, will take media and other VIPs to the three campuses including stops at Wayne State’s Smart Sensors and Integrated Microsystems Lab, U-M’s NCRC and MSU’s National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory.
REGISTRATION REQUIRED: Media planning to join the URC Media tour must contact Joe Serwach at [email protected] or (734) 647-1844 by 10 a.m. July 19. Space is limited.
