State panel, chaired by U-M education dean, proposes new teacher evaluation system

The Michigan Council for Educator Effectiveness, chaired by U-M School of Education Dean Deborah Loewenberg Ball, released its final recommendations for a statewide evaluation system for public school teachers and administrators on Tuesday, July 23 (the full report and executive summary are available online.)

The independent commission of education experts was created by Governor Rick Snyder and the Michigan legislature in 2011 as part of the state’s teacher tenure reform efforts. More information about the council’s work can be found at their website –
