U-M faculty available to discuss U.S. Census Bureau poverty figures

ANN ARBOR—The U.S. Census Bureau will release new poverty figures on Aug. 29, and University of Michigan experts are available to discuss the data.

Four experts” all affiliated with the U-M National Poverty Center, a research center in the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy” can discuss various aspects of poverty.

The University has professional TV studios and uplink capabilities.

Rebecca Blank, the Joan and Sanford Weill Dean of Public Policy and NPC co-director, is a nationally known expert on the macroeconomy, government anti-poverty programs, and the behavior and well-being of low-income families. She can be reached at (734) 763-2258 or blank@umich.edu.

Sheldon Danziger, the Henry J. Meyer Distinguished University Professor of Public Policy and NPC co-director, is a scholar on poverty, income inequality, social welfare programs and policy.
