EVENT ANNOUNCEMENT

DATE: 3-6 p.m., Aug. 29, 2013

EVENT: The Ross School of Business’ new class of 450 MBAs faces tests big and small this week in the 2013 Impact Challenge.

The new MBAs, many from other parts of the world, arrived for class today to learn that they have exactly three days to plan, coordinate and execute their contribution to a Back-to-School Fair for Detroit Public Schools students this Thursday at Eastern Market.

For Ross students, it will be a life-changing educational experience that exposes them to the power of business to be a positive force in communities. It will also introduce them to Detroit as a place to live, work and engage. The challenge is part of the Ross Leadership Initiative.

The MBAs will be broken into groups of 75-80 and tasked with creating products, services and learning activities that help fill a need for Detroit youth heading back to school. More than 1,000 students and their families are expected to attend.

They can browse and choose what they want at 42 booths. It should be interesting to see their ideas and how these teams work together to innovate. The fair also will feature free food, interactive art, music and a school supply giveaway.
