U-M Wellness in Workplace conference celebrates 25th year

EVENT:” Beyond Individual Risks and Behaviors,” a day-long conference examining workplace wellness.

In 1978, the University of Michigan Health Management Research Center began wellness assessment and programming and health management evaluation, using its health risk assessment approach. Corporations that have worked with the center to examine the health of their employees and the effects on productivity include Bank One, Xerox, Steelcase and Detroit Diesel.

Just a few years later, the center began hosting annual events looking at causes and consequences of healthy behaviors, both for the employer and the individual.

This year’s presentations include:

?” Creating the Environment to Support a Healthy Work Culture” ?Tom Golaszewski, State University of New York.

?” Creating the Culture to Support a Healthy Work Environment” ?Judd Allen, Human Resources Institute.

?” Reviewing the Stage for Health Management as a Serious Business Strategy” ?Dee Edington, director of the Health Management Research Center.
