ANN ARBOR—Sandra Day O’Connor, justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, will be the main speaker at the University of Michigan’s winter commencement Dec. 15.

Some 2,000 U-M students on the Ann Arbor campus expect their degrees this winter. The commencement exercises will begin at 2 p.m. in Crisler Arena.

Honorary degrees will be awarded to O’Connor; Robert Altman, film-maker; John H. Pickering, lawyer; and Vera C. Rubin, astronomer.

Winter commencement tickets will be distributed Dec. 9-12 in the Lydia Mendelssohn Box Office, Michigan League. Up to six tickets per graduating student will be distributed. Extra tickets, if available, will be distributed on Dec. 13.

Non-graduating students, faculty and staff can get up to two tickets from the Michigan Union Ticket Office on Dec. 12-13.
