Regents approve tenured faculty appointments
ANN ARBOR—Faculty appointments, with tenure, approved by the University of Michigan Regents at their July 17-18 meeting included:
Brian P. Coppola, lecturer in chemistry at U-M, will become associate professor of chemistry, effective Sept. 1.
Julia C. Hell, a faculty member at Duke University, will be associate professor of German languages and literatures at U-M, effective Sept. 1.
Smadar Karni, a faculty member at Temple University, will be associate professor of mathematics at U-M, effective Sept. 1.
Webb Keane, a faculty member at University of Pennsylvania, will be associate professor of anthropology at U-M, effective July 1.
George Steinmetz, a faculty member at the University of Chicago, will be associate professor of sociology and of Germanic languages and literatures at U-M, effective Sept. 1.
Linda L. Tesar, a faculty member at the University of California at Santa Barbara, will be associate professor of economics at U-M, effective Sept. 1.
Katherine M. Verdery, a faculty member at the Johns Hopkins University, will be the Eric R. Wolf Professor of Anthropology and professor of anthropology at U-M, effective Sept. 1.
