Police seek assault suspect

ANN ARBOR – The University of Michigan Department of Public Safety (DPS) is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a man wanted in connection with a sexual assault that occurred Sunday (Nov. 9) at approximately 8:30 p.m. in the Nichols Arboretum near the Geddes Road entrance, according to DPS Capt. James Smiley.

The suspect is described as a white male with a medium complexion, light-colored hair, and no glasses or facial hair, who is approximately 30 years of age and between 5’6″ and 5’9″. Smiley said the man was wearing a red-and-black-checkered coat or heavy shirt and blue jeans, with a watch on his left wrist. He was last seen in the Arboretum on foot.

DPS asks that anyone who

Smiley said DPS officers are canvassing the area and looking for witnesses. “We’re very concerned when personal assaults occur on campus,” Smiley said. “DPS has increased patrols and is determined to apprehend the suspect.”
