John Snow Inc. Lecture to be December 1
ANN ARBOR—The second annual John Snow Inc. (JSI) Lecture on international population issues will be held 3-4:30 p.m. Monday (Dec. 1) in Auditorium I, School of Public Health I Building, University of Michigan.
John Caldwell, University Fellow, professor emeritus of demography, coordinator of the Health Transition Centre at Australian National University and former president of the International Union for the Scientific Study of Population, will speak on “Old and New Fertility Transitions.” Caldwell has achieved a world-wide reputation for his demographic and sociological work in family structure, fertility, sexuality and health transitions in Asia, Africa and Australia.
The JSI lecture honors Jason L. Finkle, professor emeritus of population planning, and Yuzuru J. Takeshita, professor of health behavior and health education, for their contributions to the international population field. A public reception will follow the lecture.
