ANN ARBOR—The following is a statement by University of Michigan Athletic Director Tom Goss in response to the release of a report by Bader J. Cassin, M.D., chief medical examiner for the Public Health Department, Washtenaw County:

“I want to express once again the great sorrow felt by the Athletic Department and the entire University of Michigan community at the death of Jeff Reese. All of our lives have been diminished by the loss of this talented student athlete.

“The committee of faculty and Athletic Department staff we have constituted to review wrestling training practices will be thoroughly studying the training practices of our team and wrestling programs throughout the country. I look forward to reviewing their report and commenting more specifically about these matters at that time.”
