EVENT ANNOUNCEMENT

U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink will share insights on the situation in Ukraine as it enters its third year of war with Russia at the University of Michigan’s Ford School of Public Policy.

The April 23 speech will be followed by a conversation with Susan Page, director of the Ford School’s Weiser Diplomacy Center.

Originally from Michigan, Brink joined the State Department in 1996 and has served as deputy assistant secretary in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs, with responsibility for issues related to Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and the protracted conflicts in Europe. She also served as deputy chief of mission at the U.S. embassies in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, and in Tbilisi, Georgia.
The discussions comprise the sixth annual Vandenberg Lecture. The Meijer family established the Vandenberg Fund to honor Sen. Arthur Vandenberg, who served the state of Michigan in the U.S. Senate from 1928-51.

Vandenberg forged bipartisan support for significant and enduring foreign policies of the 20th century, including the Truman Doctrine, Marshall Plan, NATO and creation of the United Nations.
