DATE: Beginning about noon July 16, 2012. Teams will arrive throughout the day, with the University of Michigan’s expected to arrive around noon. Teams will depart the following morning about 9 a.m.

EVENT: The American Solar Challenge, a 1,650-mile race from Rochester, N.Y., to St. Paul, Minn., will pass through Ann Arbor in an overnight stop. In this race, the nation’s winningest solar car team from the University of Michigan will defend its title. The student team is vying for its seventh first-place finish and fourth consecutive championship. This is the first time this race has passed through Ann Arbor. Eighteen other teams are competing. All of them must stay overnight at the Ann Arbor stop.

PLACE: Michigan Stadium. The control stop takes place in the orange-permit parking lot SC36 just north of the stadium at the intersection of Main Street and Keech Avenue. The lot can be found on this parking map: http://pts.umich.edu/maps/central_south.pdf. Public parking will be on nearby streets.
