Taiwan’s presidential inauguration: U-M experts can discuss
EXPERTS ADVISORY
Tsai Ing-wen, the first female president of Taiwan, will be inaugurated Friday, May 20. University of Michigan experts are available to discuss:
John Ciorciari is an assistant professor public policy. His research focuses on Southeast Asia and examines foreign policy strategies, human rights and the reform of international economic institutions.
“The big question is how Tsai will deal with the 1992 Consensus in her inauguration speech,” he said. “She reportedly will not mention it by name, but all ears will be listening to her carefully chosen words to gauge the likelihood that she will launch a significant challenge to the cross-Straits status quo.”
