DPS officer apprehends carjacking suspect
ANN ARBOR— The University of Michigan Department of Public Safety (DPS) apprehended a man suspected in a carjacking that occurred outside the Law Quad shortly before midnight Sunday (Feb. 14), according to Lt. Wes Skowron of DPS.
A U-M officer observed a male subject driving a 1990 blue Acura Integra without the headlights on and running a stop sign. The subject then left the car, ran down Oakland Street toward State Street and eluded the officer. Shortly afterward, DPS received a call from the Ann Arbor Police Department reporting a carjacking. The suspect subsequently was located by DPS officers in the 500 block of State Street, between the LS&A Building and the Michigan Union.
The suspect is being held at the Washtenaw County Jail, where he awaits a judicial review today.
