Health of older Black Americans focus of new program

ANN ARBOR—Researchers from Wayne State University and the University of Michigan are joining together April 30 to launch “Healthier Black Elders,” a program that is part of the newly established Michigan Center for Urban African-American Aging Research, funded by a $2.1 million grant from the National Institute on Aging.

Principal investigators are James Jackson, director of the Program for Research on Black Americans at the U-M Institute for Social Research, and Peter Lichtenberg, interim director of the WSU Institute of Gerontology.
