Autopsy results awaited in death of woman in parking structure
ANN ARBOR—University of Michigan police are awaiting autopsy results in their investigation of the death of a 47-year-old woman in the M-18 parking structure near the U-M Health System‘s Taubman Center Thursday (Sept. 9).
The woman, who resided in Westland, was a staff member of the Health System who was on an extended disability leave.
The U-M Department of Public Safety received a call around 3 p.m. Thursday from a passer-by reporting a woman seated against the wall on the fourth floor of the structure. She was found dead by police upon their arrival.
A preliminary investigation revealed the woman had a gunshot wound to the head, and a gun and a note were found on the scene. Police do not suspect foul play, and are pursuing evidence that the wound may have been self-inflicted. However, they are awaiting the results of an autopsy, which was being conducted today, and toxicology reports before making a final determination.
