Latina/o workers conference to be held
ANN ARBOR—The University of Michigan’s Labor Studies Center will host a free public forum on issues such as school vouchers, the presidential election and candidates running for the Michigan Supreme Court at 9 a.m.-noon April 9 at the Marriott Eagle Crest Hotel in Ypsilanti.
The forum is part of the center’s seventh annual Latina/o Workers Leadership Institute for union members and other workers April 6-9.
The conference, which is open to anyone, will bring together workers from various locations, industries and unions to promote labor education, organizing skills and strategies. It will include workshops on organizing, leadership development, gender relations, international solidarity, health and safety, civil rights, and youth and unions.
