Lecture to explore role of school libraries and K-12 youth
ANN ARBOR—Prof. Carol Kuhlthau of Rutgers University will examine the role school media centers play in the education of K-12 children during a lecture in the “Library Cultures: Exploring Dimensions of Change” series at the University of Michigan sponsored by the School of Information and the University Library.
Kuhlthau will speak on “Libraries and Learning in the Information Age School” at 3 p.m. Wednesday (Sept. 20) in the Ehrlicher Room, 411 West Hall. The program is free and open to all. She is chair of the Library and Information Science Department in the School of Communications, Information, and Library Studies at Rutgers.
Most recently, Kuhlthau was nationally recognized for contributing to the advancement of instruction in a college or research library environment. Kuhlthau’s research includes enhancing learning in digital libraries, reforming school libraries for the information-age school, and developing user-centered library and information services.
