Autodesk CEO to address engineering graduates

ANN ARBOR—Carol Bartz, chief executive officer, president, and chairman of the board of Autodesk, Inc., the world’s leading supplier of design software, will be the keynote speaker at the spring graduation exercises of the University of Michigan College of Engineering. The exercises, to be held 4 to 6:30 p.m.
Since Bartz took the helm at Autodesk in 1992, the company has diversified its product line and more than doubled its revenues. Prior to Autodesk, Bartz was with Sun Microsystems, most recently serving as vice president of worldwide field operations and as an executive officer. Before joining Sun, she held product line and sales management positions at Digital Equipment Corporation and the 3M Corporation.

In 1994, the Society of Manufacturing Engineers honored Bartz with its Donald C. Burnham Manufacturing Management Award. She also has been inducted into the Women in Technology International Hall of Fame.

More than 1,000 graduate and undergraduate students will be recognized for their academic achievements at the spring exercises.

The U-M College of Engineering is consistently ranked among the top engineering schools in the world. Each year, the College enrolls more than 6,000 students and grants about 1,000 undergraduate and 600 master’s and doctoral degrees.
