ANN ARBOR—The University of Michigan is about to welcome more than 38,000 students for Fall Term 2001, beginning with residence hall move-in on Aug. 29. Following are some back-to-school story ideas:
Residence Assistants, or RAs, are this week training and community building for their role in helping first-year students get acclimated to life at the U-M. Mary Hummel, associate director of residence education, is available for interviews on what the RAs are learning. Hummel can also put you in contact with individuals who are preparing to be RAs. The University will cap its celebration of the 300th anniversary of Detroit’s founding with the Detroit 300 Theme Semester. It includes courses, events, exhibits, exchange programs and other activities. Charles Bright, lecturer at the Residential College, is one of the coordinators and is available for interviews.
