Students and alumni invited to U-M day at Detroit Science Center

DATE: Dec. 7, noon-6 p.m.

EVENT: Faculty, staff, students and alumni are invited to take part in University of Michigan Day at the New Detroit Science Center. The center will feature BRAIN: The World Inside your Head, a traveling exhibit sponsored by Pfizer Inc., four exhibits by graduate students in the U-M’s Neuroscience Program and Museum Studies Program, and a presentation at 2 p.m. by U-M psychiatry fellow Lewis Krain, dealing with how advances in neuroscience have changed the way we view psychiatric illness in the 21st century and the new social and ethical challenges we face.

PLACE: The Science Center is at 5020 John R St. in Detroit. Students who register through U-M can take a bus from the University of Michigan Museum of Art, on State Street at the corner of South University, on U-M’s central campus. The bus leaves the UMMA at noon and will return to Ann Arbor about 5 p.m.

SPONSORS: U-M Life Sciences, Values and Society Program, in partnership with the U-M Alumni Association, U-M Neuroscience Graduate Program, U-M Museum Studies Graduate Program and the Exhibit Museum of Natural History at the University of Michigan.

Admission to BRAIN: The World Inside Your Head is $2 for adults or $1 for children ages 2-12, with the purchase of general admission to the Science Center. General admission is $7 for adults and $6 for children ages 2-12 and seniors.
