Five U-M faculty elected as Fellows of AAAS

ANN ARBOR—Five faculty members from the University of Michigan are among 308 newly-elected Fellows of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. The new Fellows will be recognized for their contributions to science at the annual AAAS meeting in Washington, D.C. in February.

The new U-M Fellows are:

• James Coward, Ph.D., professor of medicinal chemistry and professor of chemistry.

• Rodney Ewing, Ph.D., the Donald R. Peacor Collegiate Professor of Geological Sciences, professor of materials science and engineering and professor of nuclear engineering and radiological sciences.

• Daniel Fisher, Ph.D., the Claude W. Hibbard Collegiate Professor of Paleontology, professor of geological sciences, professor of ecologyand evolutionary biology and curator of paleontology.

• Henry Mosberg, Ph.D., professor of medicinal chemistry.

• James Penner-Hahn, Ph.D., professor of chemistry.

AAAS is the world’s largest general scientific society. Fellows of AAAS are elected by their peers, in recognition of outstanding efforts to advance science or its applications.
