What the new nanolab means for the university, state and region

EVENT: Building dedication: Learn about cutting-edge nanotechnology research that is occurring at the University of Michigan College of Engineering and will take place in the new Robert H. Lurie Nanofabrication Facility.

Speakers will also discuss the economic impact the 37,500-foot expansion of the lab is expected to have on the region’s economy. Since 2000, the lab has generated at least $256.4 million worth of quantifiable economic impacts for the state.

Speakers include:

  • U-M President Mary Sue Coleman.
  • Dave Munson, the Robert J. Vlasic Dean of Engineering.
  • Brian Gilchrist, interim chair of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
  • Kensall Wise, the William Gould Dow Distinguished University Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and the J. Reid and Polly Anderson Professor of Manufacturing Technology.
  • Ruba Borno, a graduating doctoral student in electrical engineering and computer science.

TOURS: A tour of the nanofabrication facility will take place after the dedication.

PLACE: Outside the Lurie Nanofabrication Facility, in a tent along Beal Avenue on North Campus in Ann Arbor.

PARKING: The LNF is at the east end of the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science building, noted on the map at the link below as EECS. Visitor parking is available at “VP” locations
