Health professor receives award
ANN ARBOR—Noreen M. Clark, professor and chair of the Department of Health Behavior and Health Education at the University of Michigan School of Public Health, has received the Distinguished Career Award for 1994 from the American Public Health Association.
The award is in ” recognition and appreciation of her outstanding contribution to the practice and profession of health education. ”
Clark specializes in research on self-management of chronic disease, including asthma in children and heart disease in the elderly. She also has developed interventions to improve the health status, quality of life and collaborative activity of rural women in Kenya and the Philippines.
Clark has served as a consultant for the Ethiopian Women’s Welfare Association, the Ministry of Education in Nepal, the Asia Foundation in Pakistan, the Directorate of Health in Portugal, the World Bank, and the United Nations Development Program.
