New course helps foster successful economic development
ANN ARBOR—A hands-on course that focuses on combining private and public sector strengths to create successful economic development is being offered at the University of Michigan.
“Practical Public/Private Partnerships for Neighborhood and Community Development” will meet May 3-June 15, on Wednesdays and Thursdays, 4:40-6:30 p.m.. Some Saturday sessions also will be scheduled, according to instructor Peter Allen of the U-M College of Architecture and Urban Planning.
Open to full- or part-time students and professionals in private development, urban affairs, architecture and urban planning, the class will involve case studies in housing, downtown development, recreational projects and land-use planning. Students also will develop a course project.
