Great Lakes research symposium at U-M

EVENT: The Great Lakes Integrated Sciences and Assessments Center (GLISA) symposium will include discussions of the center’s current work on climate variability and change in the region. Jointly led by the University of Michigan and Michigan State University, GLISA was formed last year with a $4.2 million grant from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Kathy Jacobs, director of the National Climate Assessment for the U.S. Global Change Research Program, will give the keynote address, “Connecting Science and Decision-making: Building a Foundation for Adaptation through the National Climate Assessment.”

Researchers funded through GLISA will summarize their projects and initial findings on: lake evaporation and water resource management, decision-maker response to extreme heat events; agricultural yields and water resources; and harvest management of Great Lakes whitefish.
