Activist Julianne Malveaux will give Ross School’s MLK Day talk

EVENT: Julianne Malveaux, economist, author and commentator, will deliver the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business Martin Luther King Day lecture.
Malveaux, president and CEO of the multimedia production company Last Word Productions Inc. in Washington, D.C., will address “Economic Justice in the Beloved Community: Where Do We Go From Here?” Her talk is free to the public.
Recognized for her provocative, progressive and insightful observations, Malveaux has been described by Princeton’s Cornel West as “the most iconoclastic public intellectual in the country.”
As a writer and syndicated columnist, Malveaux’s work appears regularly in USA Today, Black Issues in Higher Education, Ms. magazine, Essence, and the Progressive. Her writings focus not only on the economy, but also on issues of affirmative action, social status and class, women’s rights and the American educational system. Her weekly columns appear in numerous newspapers across the country and she is well known for her appearances on national television and radio programs.
In addition, Malveaux is an accomplished author and editor. She recently co-wrote the book “Unfinished Business: A Democrat and a Republican Take On the 10 Most Important Issues Women Face” and co-edited the anthology “The Paradox of Loyalty: An African American Response to the War on Terrorism.”
