Author talk on Michigan Republican woman pioneer

EVENT: Author Sara Fitzgerald talks about her book “Elly Peterson,” about the life and political history of a woman who broke gender barriers in the Republican party?and later threw her support to a Democrat. In 1964 she ran for a Michigan seat in the U.S. Senate, and became the first woman to serve as chair of the Michigan Republican Party.
She was Assistant Chairman of the Republican National Committee.
Sara Fitzgerald, a Michigan native, worked for the Washington Post for 15 years as an editor and new-media developer.
