Business School’s annual FuturTech Conference Jan. 16-17

ANN ARBOR—The University of Michigan Business School’s 5th annual FuturTech Conference, “Turbulent Technologies: Disturbing the Present, Shaping the Future,” will explore the impact of new technologies on the business world Jan. 16-17. The conference, which will be held at the U-M Business School, will kick off with a keynote address by Derrick Cogburn, assistant professor at the U-M School of Information and director of the Collaboratory on Technology Enhanced Learning Communities, at 5:45 p.m. Jan. 16 at Hale Auditorium. Other keynote speakers include Jeff Balagna, chief information officer of Medtronic Inc., at 9 a.m. Jan. 17 and Ken Wirt, senior vice president of marketing and product management at Palm Inc., at 3:15 p.m. Jan. 17. In addition, leaders from business and academia will participate in eight panel discussions. Topics include: venture capitalists’ perspectives on technology investment; cross-border technology outsourcing; netmarketplaces and the e-bubble burst; disruptive technologies in the auto industry; intellectual asset and digital rights management; technology innovation and management consultancies; high-tech marketing; and the outlook for the telecom industry.
