Campus Law Enforcement Investigators Seminar

June 14, 2000

ANN ARBOR—The University of Michigan Department of Public Safety and Security will be hosting the seventh annual Campus Law Enforcement Investigators Seminar on June 20-22. The by-invitation-only seminar will bring together law enforcement officials from universities in the Big Ten Conference and the state of Michigan.

The highlight of the conference will be a keynote address given Tuesday evening by Elizabeth Weaver, chief justice of the Michigan Supreme Court.

The three-day event, to be held at the U-M’s Kipke Conference Center, also will feature presentations by the FBI, prosecutors from Washtenaw and Wayne counties, the Michigan State Police, Ameritech, and other community agencies. Seminar topics will include hate crimes on campus, GHB, domestic terrorism, domestic violence, and cell phone fraud. Additionally, time will be allotted for presentations from the seminar participants regarding innovative programs at their campuses.

This will be the fourth year the U-M has hosted the CLEIS, which was originally founded by members of the U-M Department of Public Safety staff in 1994.
