Child welfare expert David Liederman will speak at the U-M in free, public
ANN ARBOR—David S. Liederman, president and CEO of
the Council on Accreditation of Services for Families and
Children (COA), will deliver the University of Michigan
School of Social Work’s annual Fedele F. and Iris M. Fauri
Memorial Lecture on Child Welfare at 3 p.m. Nov. 30 at the
U-M School of Education’s Schorling Auditorium.
Liederman, former executive director of the Child
Welfare League of America Inc., will address “The State of
Children in America: Are We Y2K Ready?”
The Fauri Lecture is named in memory of Fedele Fauri,
former U-M vice president and dean of social work, and his
wife, Iris. Fedele held various state and federal
government positions in social welfare, including serving
as the first director of the Michigan Department of Social
Services and as Social Security adviser to President John
F. Kennedy and to the U.S. Congress.
