Coleman appoints committee for U-M-Flint chancellor search

ANN ARBOR—University of Michigan President Mary Sue Coleman has appointed an 11-member search advisory committee for the chancellor of the University of Michigan-Flint.

Keith Moreland, professor of accounting, School of Management, will chair the committee, which has been charged with conducting a national search to identify candidates for the position.

Committee members are:

• Sandra Alberto, administrative assistant, Thompson Center for Learning and Teaching.

• Margaret M. Andrews, director and professor of nursing, School of Health Professions and Studies.

• an Furman, professor of English, College of Arts and Sciences.

• Robert L. Houbeck, director, Frances Willson Thompson Library.

• Jelena Jovic, student representative.

• Jeffrey P. Kupperman, assistant professor of education, School of Education and Human Services.

• Maureen Smyth, senior vice president, programs and communications, Charles Stewart Mott Foundation.

• Barry M. Trantham, vice president Municipal Banking, J. P. Morgan Chase & Company.

• Stephen W. Turner, associate professor of computer science, Department of Computer Science, Engineering Science and Physics, College of Arts and Sciences.

• Johnny W. Young, assistant vice chancellor for Student Services and Enrollment Management.

Coleman was at the UM-Flint campus Sept. 27 to gather input from faculty, staff, students, alumni and the Flint community regarding the upcoming search. An open forum was held where Coleman addressed comments and questions from the audience.

“This search is vitally important to the future direction of UM-Flint,” Coleman said. “The caliber of our search committee informs me that we will find outstanding candidates for UM-Flint’s sixth chancellor.”
