EVENT: 2006 Harold Jacobson Lecture.

Columbia University professor Jack Snyder delivers the 2006 Harold Jacobson Lecture.

Snyder speaks on ” Trials and Errors: Strategies for the Rule of Law.” The Robert and Renee Belfer Professor of International Relations at Columbia, Snyder’s research focuses on international relations theory, Post-Soviet politics, and nationalism. His publications include ” From Voting to Violence: Democratization and Nationalist Conflict;” ” Myths of Empire: Domestic Politics and International Ambition;” ” The Ideology of the Offensive: Military Decision Making and the Disasters of 1914;” and ” Civil Wars, Insecurity, and Intervention.”

The Jacobson Lecture is an annual event to celebrate ” Jake’s” contribution to the Center for Political Studies and the U-M more generally. The focus is on one or more of the many areas where he made substantial scholarly and institutional contributions, including foreign policy, international organization and law, the environment, and international relations theory.

The event is free and open to the public.
