Distinguished playwright comes to U-M.

ANN ARBOR—The University of Michigan will host poet and
playwright Wole Soyinka for a poetry reading as part of this year’s Visiting Writer Series. The series is sponsored by the U-M Department of English and the Office of the Provost.

Soyinka was educated in Nigeria, where he completed most of
his plays, poems and essays. His works are written mainly
in English and explore the African world view. He lectures
as a distinguished scholar at American, European and African universities. He is currently a Woodruff Professor of the Arts at Emory University.

The reading will be held on Dec. 2 at 5 p.m. in the Rackham
Amphitheater and is free and open to the public. For more
