Entrepreneurial financing to be discussed March 22-24

ANN ARBOR—Building and financing an entrepreneurial company in today’s tough venture capital market will be the focus of a University of Michigan Business School seminar March 22-24 at the School’s Executive Education Center, located at Sam Wyly Hall.

Sponsored by the U-M Business School’s Center for Venture Capital and Private Equity Finance (CVP) and the Samuel Zell and Robert H. Lurie Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies, the seminar will show how entrepreneurial companies in high technology and the life sciences can effectively raise venture capital in the current environment.

Topics will include valuation, capital structure, securities, balancing financing strategy with business strategy, frameworks for negotiating financing, management of the firm’s equity and strategic alternatives.

Among the seminar speakers will be CEOs of successfully funded start-up companies (Rubicon Genomics and Ischemia Technologies), venture capitalists (ARCH Development and White Pines Ventures) and faculty from the U-M Business School.

Registration information and a complete agenda can be found on the CVP Web site at www.umich.edu/~cvpumbs/calendar/entre_fin02.html.
