EVENT ANNOUNCEMENT

EVENT: Gina McCarthy, administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, will deliver a free, public keynote address at the University of Michigan Law School’s Environmental Law and Policy Program conference.

Appointed by President Obama in 2009 as assistant administrator for EPA’s Office of Air and Radiation, McCarthy was confirmed as administrator of the agency in July 2013.

“Gina McCarthy has been leading state and federal efforts to address the harmful effects of pollution for more than three decades. In her short time as EPA administrator, she has re-energized the agency and redoubled its efforts to address global climate change,” said David Uhlmann, director of the Environmental Law and Policy Program. “We are thrilled that Ms. McCarthy is visiting Michigan Law to present the keynote address for our fall 2013 environmental conference and motivating Michigan students to promote a sustainable future.”

The two-day (Sept. 26-27) conference, titled Environmental Law and Public Health, features experts on topics such as pollution, children’s health, pesticides, urban agriculture, industrial siting and sustainable communities.
