Five faculty members honored for their commitment to diversity
ANN ARBOR—Five University of Michigan faculty members have been chosen to receive the 2000 Harold R. Johnson Diversity Service Award for their commitment to the development of a more culturally and ethnically diverse campus community.
This year’s recipients, chosen by a special campus committee, include Lorraine M. Gutierrez, associate professor of social work and psychology; James S. Jackson, professor of psychology and director of the Program for Research on Black Americans and the Center for Afroamerican and African Studies; Terrence J. McDonald, professor of history and associate dean for academic affairs at the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts; Robert E. Megginson, associate professor of mathematics; and Emerson Robinson, professor of dentistry.
Named for the former dean of the School of Social Work, the $5,000 awards are given annually to full-time tenured and tenure-track faculty members to further their personal research, education and creative activities.
