ANN ARBOR—Residents of Ann Arbor and surrounding communities are invited to receive free oral screenings and learn more about proper oral health care 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Nov. 11 at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry.

Dental and dental hygiene students and faculty members will team up to provide free x-rays, oral cancer screenings, tooth decay examinations, and instructions on proper oral health care to individuals regardless of income and as young as five. However, treatments will not be provided.

No appointment is necessary. Patients will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis. The school is located at 1011 N. University Ave. on Central Campus.

Clark Downey, a third-year dental student who is directing the program, said, ” This is a great opportunity for the public to learn more about the status of their oral health.” If individuals learn they need follow-up care, he said they should arrange that with the dental school or their family dentist.

Patients attending Dental Health Day can park for free that day in the Patient Parking Area (upper level) at the Fletcher Street Parking Garage next to the School of Dentistry. Although they will receive a parking ticket at the gate, they will not have to pay.
