Larger-than-life art prints steamroll through Flint
EVENT ANNOUNCEMENT
DATE: 1-5 p.m. Saturday, May 10
EVENT: The Flint Block Party will feature local and regional artists, including many U-M alums and faculty, creating large-scale relief prints using a steamroller as a printing press. Relief printmaking involves designing, carving and printing handmade stamps using ink and pressure, and visitors can witness these live demonstrations for free in downtown Flint. No registration is needed.
Spearheaded by UM-Flint Artist in Residence Janice McCoy and presented by the University Musical Society and other collaborating organizations, the event celebrates community, accessibility and the power of art to engage people of all ages and backgrounds. Additional art activities will be available on-site organized by the Flint Institute of Arts.
