Love Every Body Week focuses on image, eating disorders
ANN ARBOR—Love Every Body Week is the University of Michigan’s observance of Eating Disorders Awareness Week. Events are designed to help women and men feel more accepting of their body size and shape, according to Alison Brzenchek, health education coordinator for eating issues at University Health Service and the week’s coordinator. The kick-off event, “Food Loves Your Body,” will take place 6-9 p.m. March 9, in the Michigan Union Ballroom. The week’s featured speaker is Joe Kelly, executive director of Dad’s and Daughters, a national education and advocacy group. The first of Kelly’s two presentations on March 10 is 12-1:30 p.m., “Mentoring and Parenting Females Regarding Body Image,” in Meeting Rooms 1 and 2, University Health Service. From 7-9 p.m., Kelly will do an interactive presentation, “Body Image: How Men Can Support Women,” Room 1800, Chemistry Building.
