Michael Verhoeven to screen new film Nov. 20

ANN ARBOR—German film-maker Michael Verhoeven will show his latest film, “My Mother’s Courage,” at 7 p.m. Nov. 20 at the Michigan Theater.

In addition to the screening, Verhoeven will discuss the movie, which is based on the true story of playwright George Tabori’s mother, Elsa, who narrowly escaped deportation to Auschwitz after being arrested by Budapest police during World War II and handed over to the Nazis.

Verhoeven’s visit is sponsored by the University of Michigan Program in Film and Video Studies, the Frankel Center for Judaic Studies and the Hillel Foundation.
