MTV will tape U-M prof’s lecture for new series, students welcome

EVENT: Bruce Conforth, professor of American Culture at the University of Michigan, will share his famous end-of-the-semester lecture on MTV’s college network for a new series pilot profiling some of the country’s best collegiate lecturers.

The 45-minute event is open to all U-M students, who will have a chance to appear on mtvU, which reaches nearly 9 million students on more than 750 college campuses.

Conforth, a country and delta blues guitarist trained by such legends as Reverend Gary Davis and Son House, was appointed the first Director of Curatorial and Educational Affairs at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. He received his Ph.D. in ethnomusicology and folklore from Indiana University and has taught at Michigan since 2001.
