Neighborhood AmeriCorps Program launches fifth year
ANN ARBOR—The annual launch of the Michigan Neighborhood AmeriCorps Program will be Wednesday ( The Michigan Neighborhood AmeriCorps Program is a collaboration of U-M graduate professional schools and 20 Detroit and Dearborn community-based organizations that is now five years old.
The program recently was named Michigan’s National Service Program of the Year.
Several U-M College of Architecture and Urban Planning students, AmeriCorps members, were involved in the planning and design of a new housing development, which includes the community center. The housing development now stands as an example of the neighborhood revitalization that can grow out of university/community partnership.
