One book’s journey through time

EVENT: Giving an opportunity to travel through time and place, the University of Michigan’s Harlan Hatcher Library will host a free and public presentation of “The Bible: One Book’s Journey Through Time.”
Prepared in conjunction with the library’s annual exhibition “From Papyri to King James: The Evolution of the English Bible,” this event will feature artifacts from the exhibit including papyri, medieval manuscripts and early printed bibles with maps of locations mentioned in the texts, all telling the story of how the King James Version of the Bible came to be.
Among those presenting are Kathryn Beam, librarian at U-M’s Special Collections Library and curator of its humanities holdings; Karl Longstreth, librarian of the University Library’s Map Library and Traianos Gagos, professor of papyrology and archivist with Hatcher’s extensive papyrus collection.
TIMES: The exhibit on the 7th floor of the Hatcher Library will continue through Feb. 2, Mon-Fri. 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturdays 10 a.m-noon. Group guided tours are available by appointment by contacting Kathryn Beam, (734) 764-9377 or [email protected].
