Peace Corps director to make major announcement on steps of Michigan Union

EVENT: Carrie Hessler-Radelet, director of the Peace Corps, will make a major announcement at the University of Michigan about the international volunteer organization’s recruitment efforts.
She will speak on the steps of the Michigan Union, where Sen. John F. Kennedy challenged students 55 years ago to serve their country by living and working in some of the most remote corners of the world. The event will highlight the Peace Corps’ current role as a dynamic, forward-leaning champion for international service.
Also attending the event:
- Al Guskin, president emeritus of Antioch University and a U-M alumnus who witnessed Kennedy’s speech
- Susan Collins, dean of the Ford School of Public Policy
- Royster Harper, vice president for Student Life at U-M
- Ben Morse, a U-M graduate student and returned Peace Corps volunteer
