ANN ARBOR—This year’s Henry Russel Lecture at the University of Michigan will be given by Prof. Abigail J. Stewart on Tuesday (March 14). The annual lectureship is the highest honor the University gives to a senior faculty member.

Stewart’s lecture, at 4 p.m. in Rackham Amphitheater, is titled “Uses of the Past: Toward a Psychology of Generations.” The lecture is open to the public.

Stewart is professor of psychology and of women’s studies, research scientist at the Center for the Education of Women and director of the Institute for Research on Women and Gender.

Preceding the lecture, this year’s Henry Russel Award, given annually to junior faculty members, will be presented to Jeffrey A. Fessler, associate professor of electrical engineering and computer science, of biomedical engineering and of internal medicine, and Webb Keane, associate professor of anthropology.

Both the Henry Russel Lecture and Henry Russel Award were established in 1915 with a bequest from Henry Russel of Detroit, who received three degrees from U-M.
