Prof. Arnetha Ball named to national English teachers council
ANN ARBOR—Arnetha F. Ball, University of Michigan assistant professor of education, has been appointed to the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE).
Ball will serve as a member of the Standing Committee on Research and will be responsible for promoting research findings in the teaching of English.
The NCTE is a professional organization for teachers and supervisors of English at all levels of education. Its aim is to improve the teaching of English and the language arts in the nation’s schools and colleges.
Ball earned her undergraduate and master’s degrees in education and speech pathology from the U-M, and she received her doctoral degree in language, literacy, and culture from Stanford University. Ball’s research has focused on an interdisciplinary investigation of oral and written literacy as it relates to culturally and linguistically diverse populations.
