Public forum on nuclear energy
DATE: 2-3:30 p.m., April 10, 2010.
EVENT: A presentation and public forum about nuclear energy. Participants from the government, industry and academia will discuss the licensing process for new plants, non-proliferation issues, day-to-day plant operations, the science behind the technology, safety, and nuclear spent fuel disposal.
Members of the public are invited to ask questions at this town hall-style event. It is part of the 2010 American Nuclear Society Student Conference, which will bring more than 550 students and professionals from around the nation to Ann Arbor April 8-11.
Participants include:
• Cynthia D. Pederson, deputy regional administrator at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
• Jack Davis, chief nuclear officer at DTE.
• Harold McFarlane, deputy associate laboratory director for nuclear programs at Idaho National Laboratory.
• Steve Mladineo, national security directorate at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory.
• Thomas Sanders, American Nuclear Society president.
