ANN ARBOR—University of Michigan Regents, at their Oct. 21-22 meeting, approved the proposed design of the two-story addition to the Institute of Science Technology (IST) High Bay Building on the North Campus.

The 20,000-square-foot addition is for use by the Department of Biomedical Engineering and the Center for Ultrafast Optical Science. The project is estimated to cost $6 million.

“Funding will be provided from College of Engineering funds on hand and obtained through fund-raising efforts,” said U-M Executive Vice President Robert Kasdin.

“Parking survey data shows there are a sufficient number of available parking spaces in lot NC8 to accommodate this addition.”

The U-M Regents also authorized the University to issue the project for bids.
