Researchers to discuss status of NOAA-funded Great Lakes Restoration Initiative projects

EVENT: Two years ago, President Obama proposed $475 million in new funding for his Great Lakes Restoration Initiative, the largest investment in the Great Lakes in two decades. From the GLRI, the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration received funding for 17 projects, totaling $29.72 million, in fiscal year 2010.University of Michigan researchers have been awarded a total of $5.4 million for 15 GLRI projects funded by NOAA and the Environmental Protection Agency.

About 60 Great Lakes researchers from across the region will gather at U-M to review what has been accomplished so far and how the work has contributed to the restoration of the Great Lakes.
